Florence and the Machine How Big How Blue How Beautiful Song Instrumental

Florence + the Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful [Alternative] - [2:41]

level 1

I learned just yesterday, pretty much out of the blue, that there will be new Florence and the Machine album and now there's a new song. I missed her voice so much, she is truly gifted singer

level 1

Please do go see them live, if you get the chance. The smaller venue, the better. She has amazing pipes, needed to be witnessed live.

level 2

This. Saw their performance this past October on the Bridge Benefit Concert, and I can honestly say that they really improved much and are playing really, really well.

EDIT: If you are interested and haven't seen this concert yet, I urge you to do so. My favorites of their performance that weekend - No Light, No Light and Only If For A Night.

level 2

I was devastated when I missed their concert. Lying in bed, calling up the phone trying to get tickets, all desperate and with nothing to show.

But I'll pray for them to come to town.

level 1

Ok, I've listened to it five times over and I DON'T KNOW why it's good but it's sooooooooo good. I have absolutely no idea what's going on musically and in what particular way it builds up to the halucinogenic awesomeness that it does but this is just too good. The feeling of something being great but not knowing why. I'm really curious to know what are her influences / sources for this. I'm getting a very strong classical vibe from this but not in the usual icky crossover way. This is the good stuff. Giovanni Gabrieli meets Gustav Holst meets god-knows-what-else. And there are so many textures and layers to it. I don't have enough musical education to pinpoint wtf is it about it that is so good.

level 1

I hope this album includes lots of trumpets! Makes her music seem even more epic.

level 2

I agree so much with this statement. She already incorporates the harp so well, the trumpets will just make it

level 1

sounds like a great album opener to me. I can't wait for more!

level 1

God damn, I love Florence. That voice.

level 1

Considering she composed this herself I am mighty impressed with how good the trumpets are. It sounds like a real piece of classical music. I love flo but she's really upped her game and done her homework with this. I can't wait to see what the proper songs will sound like.

level 1

Good Lord, when her voice kicks in at 0:25, I get goosebumps!!!!!

Welcome back Florence. You've certainly been missed!

level 1

is it more of an introductory track to the rest of her album? it's GREAT by itself but it's mostly instrumental so that's what itmakes me think of haha

level 1

Feels good to wake up and hear some new Flo. Such a haunting voice. I like this one.

level 1

Today is a good day. Florence and Alabama Shakes have announced new albums and released new music. I have been waiting since 2011 to hear more of Florence and I am so pleased with the timing.

level 1

One of my favorite artists. Can't wait for the full album!!

level 1

There's something so beautifully epic about this. The swelling trumpets give me goosebumps. It makes me imagine some sci-fi scenario where far in the distant future we send astronauts off on a journey to find habitable planets. After decades of search and frozen sleep they come upon it: a big blue orb. It's huge and aqueous like earth. They land and it's teeming with life. Alien birds fly over head squawking an unfamiliar tune. Strange bugs chirp in extraterrestrial woods. I feel like her music does this a lot; it sets up magical scenarios. I've missed you Florence.

level 1

I wonder if this song is supposed to transition into the next song. It ends too soon; kinda feels like an interrupted sneeze.

level 1

For some reason, it feels a bit more restrained than her previous work. It's different, but I don't mind it.

level 1

Lot of horns, doesn't really seem to recognise what makes their songs usually great. eh. I'm sure the rest of the album will be great but this was... underwhelming.
